Introduction

Harvard College Library's Government Information Services are housed in Lamont Library. Its collection consists of United States, foreign and international information. It is also a depository for FAO publications. The Food and Agriculture Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, is active in land and water development, plant and animal production, forestry, fisheries, economic and social policy, investment, nutrition, food standards and commodities and trade. It also plays a major role in dealing with food and agricultural emergencies. The following guide lists some of the most useful research tools related to FAO material whether received on deposit, supplemented by purchase, or found online. This guide tries to make this vast collection comprehensible.
